Membership Requirements
The Smithtown Bay Yacht Club is composed of active members only. Any male or female, 18 years of age or over, a resident or taxpayer of the Town of Smithtown, and the owner of a boat or the husband or wife of the owner of a boat, shall be eligible for active membership. A taxpayer shall be defined as an owner of real property exclusive of membership in the Club. In the case of a married couple, a single membership shall admit both to membership. Children of such members shall have the privileges of the Club grounds and facilities. Children under 12 years of age shall be accompanied by a member or older child having Club privileges.
To maintain the status of “member in good standing,” each member must, during the fiscal year:
attend at least three general and/or special meetings; pay annual dues and slip fees as applicable; and give in services a prescribed number of hours to the Club according to a formula based on years of membership.
Membership Benefits
Clubhouse and Grounds:
All active members, their families and guests are entitled to the use of the clubhouse and grounds in accordance with the rules of the club. Members are welcome and encouraged to participate in all social and recreational activities of the club.
Marina:
A member desiring a berth at the Marina shall make application for a berth by mail to the Marina Chairman. The member will be either assigned an available berth or placed on the waiting list.
Any male or female, 18 years of age or over, a resident or taxpayer of the Town of Smithtown, not the owner of a boat but interested in boating and boating activities shall be eligible for limited active membership in the Club.
Children of members who have attained the age of 21 or who shall have established a separate residence shall maintain their own membership. The initiation fee for children of members shall be waived when said children become active members.
